Pinduoduo's cross-border e-commerce platform Temu recently announced the opening of three new international sites: Georgia, Mauritius, and Malta, located in West Asia, Africa, and Southern Europe. The Mauritius station is the second national station of the platform in Africa since its launch of the South African station at the beginning of the year
As of now, Temu has established 53 overseas markets worldwide, covering multiple countries and regions including Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and Oceania
According to Business of APPS data, Temu's download volume has exceeded 100 million times in 2023. The platform currently ranks among the top in the shopping app download rankings in multiple countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The measures to enter the Georgian and Mauritius stations may be aimed at preparing for future expansion into nearby markets in Russia and Africa
In addition, according to the authoritative media The Information, Temu is actively adjusting its strategy to reduce its dependence on the US market. At present, the US market accounts for 60% of its total product sales, but the platform has set a goal to reduce this proportion to 30% by 2025. On the contrary, Temu will accelerate its business expansion in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and South Korea.
